Energy Efficiency and Renewables for Community Buildings

Faced with cuts and lower income for the Community Sector more broadly anyone taking on a new or existing community owned building will have to look very closely at every aspect of their operation to keep overheads to a minimum. Here’s Just Power for Communities CIC’s short guide to what you should consider now before the dark days set in. Installing renewables, such as solar PV will help cut energy bills and create a long term, index linked, income to enable funds to be reinvested in further energy savings or your work.

If you’re already an owner of a building or planning to take one on - this tool from our friends at Locality will help you assess the future costs including its repair, maintenance and other operating requirements.

Locality have worked with Davis Langdon to use the most up-to-date building data and the whole life costing methodology employed by surveyors and construction professionals.

Meeting up with Communities Ambitious for Change!

We're delighted that we'll be at Locality's second convention in Bristol on 6-7 November 2012.

The Convention is a fantastic gathering of members from across Locality's network of development trusts, community enterprises and settlements - I expect there will be a good handful of politicians, decions makers and funders there too, keen to meet people who are creating change in their community.

Last year's was an inspirational event - so we'll be there this year too!

No feet time up this summer with FiT changes from 1st August

The first changes to the Feed-in Tariffs under the Government's new 'cost reduction mechanism' took place on 1st August 2012. We have updated all the information you need to know about the changes and the new rates here. The FIT's will continue to change every quarter - depending on the number of installations which have taken place in previous quarters.
